OHHHHHH YEAAAAAAH!!! : Sony 2.1 Personal Speakers (Black)
These speakers are wonderful for listening to music. If you are listening to flac files or other lossless formats you will be able to hear the difference instantly. of course mp3s sound great but really consider moving into better formats if you're going to buy more expensive speakers. The bass is beyond amazing except for one problem. the low end range is lacking. 50hz is not that impressive. Don't get me wrong. This subwoofer will shake the entire room at half volume easily but if you hit that low low end of a song the sub will lose that power. if you like rap or hip hop this might be a problem but if you're a rock kind of person or whatever else it wont be a concern really. In response to the other review the mids at first can seem a bit lacking but if you use a good equalizer such as one with media monkey or other third party media players(crappy itunes and windows media player will not resolve this issue. once again if you really want to hear music at better quality make the switch to something better). Even at low volumes these speakers will keep full sound. overall theyre very impressive for music.
These speakers were not that impressive for movies as i would have hoped. after a few battle scenes from lord of the rings i just didnt have the chill i got when i was listening to music. the subwoofer did not perform. a very cheap surround sound subwoofer sounded better. I think that down firing subwoofers are better for movies. But this whole situation may have been because i resorted to using windows media player to watch the dvd. ill most likely add a reponse when i use something else to try out movies.
For games these speakers are really nice. the full sound and booming explosions puts you right into the game. Even though this is a 2.1 system you get a good feel on where the sound is coming from. dead space was much more fun this time around.
The speakers are nice looking with a mix of matte and glossy black. Theyre elegant but not too fancy looking so they wont make your other devices look super cheap by comparison. The remote is a great add on especially if youre lazy like i am. You can adjust bass and treble from the remote and on the system but its not too useful to be honest. The adjustments jump a bit too much. The volume is set up like most other sony products. each "number" has 3 "clicks" before it goes on to the next one. There is not a number actually displayed. lights around the jog dial show what level you are at for volume bass and treble(not at the same time). the lights also do an equalizer like bounce thing and an array of random flashing and spinning if thats your thing.
The front firing subwoofer is great at filing the room and the satelites are crisp and clean.
Overall a great system for the $120 i paid here on amazon. not the best for a real low end enthusiast or movie buff. if youre looking for some great music and game speakers these are them.
Finally as always shipping was excellent and speedy. it came inside a large amazon box. so box in a box. well padded. not a scratch on the actual box the speakers were in.
